In my life I once met a great networking professional who told me… well it was actually just about a week ago, that “social media is not technology, it’s just people.” With that in mind I’d encourage anyone involved in social media professionally, almost everyone in some way, to get offline and interact with new real people this week. Go out and brush up on the core fundamentals of what makes an exciting and engaging interaction.
With that said this post is not long or complicated. It’s simple. Head over to meetup right now, rsvp for an event, and make the commitment to actually attend. Even if you can’t find one that peaks your interest you’re bound to meet and interact with a new network of people that could inspire your next social media promotion, product, or just a more proactive outgoing attitude.
No matter who you meet it will give your online social media interactions real purpose afterwords. At the very least creating new online social relationships. Hopefully it will go further though inspiring you to take the fundamentals of what makes a real world engaging social interaction and adapting them to your next great social media promotion.
